How Responses to Reviews Help SEO
Can responding to bad reviews help my SEO efforts? Most people are quick to post a negative review if they don't like anything about a product, service or even a website. Sadly, this doesn't help the person who posted the bad review. Why? When someone is posting a negative review, what they are really saying is "this service or product is not right for me and I would never recommend it to anyone else."

What if I were to respond to negative reviews in a positive way? If someone writes a bad review, I would simply state that I agree with what they are saying. That's not responding; what I am doing is accepting their point of view. Then I would ask them why they wrote the negative review and if they have anything else to say.

The key to a good review response strategy is to be patient and polite. This will allow you to gather valuable information from the negative reviews and can ultimately help you improve your business. If you were to write a response that starts off by saying "I agree that your review was harsh," you will turn the reader off. Instead, respond with "Thank you for taking the time to write a review, I really appreciate your feedback and will consider it carefully. I will work hard to improve and please be sure to keep checking my business for new customers as much as possible."

The reason why most people leave reviews is usually one of two reasons. Either the customer is unhappy with the service/product or the customer feels they have been treated unfairly. In both situations, there are some things you can do to respond positively. If a person leaves a bad review and the only problem is they were treated fairly, you should do one of the following. First, be sure the customer is aware you are willing to work with them to fix the problem. Explain the situation and what you did to resolve it and ask if they would be open to speaking with you to find the problem so you can resolve it.

If a customer leaves a bad review because you have done a poor job of addressing the concern, you should still do the first two steps above to try to resolve it. However, you should also apologize for the way you addressed the concern. Explain that it wasn't your intent to make it sound like you don't care about the issue at all. Then, ask the customer if they would be willing to leave a positive review for your business if they felt you had addressed the concern. They may not be willing to do so now, but it is always good to request an email or call to follow up.

A great way to use reviews to your advantage is to know when to take them seriously and when to just drop them like a hot potato. For example, many reviews written online are written by employees who haven't even seen the business face-to-face. It's easy to brush off these reviews as being nothing more than employee perceptions. But employees give these reviews often in the hopes that others will notice their good work and give them a pat on the back. If they feel that you have addressed their concerns appropriately, they may be more apt to write good things about you. In turn, other customers who see that someone takes reviews serious may be more inclined to visit your website.

If you want SEO success, you need to pay attention to how you treat customers. You don't need to spend a lot of money to get top-notch SEO service, but you do need to treat them well and have a good understanding of how search engines work. A lot of small businesses buy cheap services and pay little attention to the results. This is a mistake that can have a big impact on your ranking. When you are faced with a difficult review and you have a reasonable explanation for why the negative review is coming, it's a good time to respond. Responding to positive reviews while ignoring those that are unfavorable is not the way to help your SEO ranking.

Search engine optimization is not a hard thing to learn. It's simply a process of getting your website to rank high in the search engines. The more you know about search engine optimization, the more successful you will be. Responses to customer reviews can help you to get an edge over your competitors and move forward with your business.
