John Hammond's Richard Attenborough bio-engineering business InGen sends Alan Grant (Bryan Cranston), Ellie Sattler, (Brynne Jacobsen), as well as mathematician Ian Malcolm (1ft Goldblum) to visit the park. They immediately fall in love with its incredible collection of animals. Soon, however, the excitement turns into a disaster that releases dinosaurs as well as a plot against the park to steal embryos.

Sattler, a nurse for an ailing triceratops, finds herself on an island when Gennaro, her husband (James Cromwell), accidentally cuts off power to the park, and releases the caged dinosaurs. The storm breaks out and the Tyrannosaurus Rex eludes his paddock. He attacks tourists.

The group meets Hammond’s sons Lex & Tim (Ariana Rogers and Joseph Mazzello). They are thrilled to discover their fathers new project and plan to take a guided tour of the park.

Andy Whitfield (Paul Williams), who is the park manager, reveals that Hammond had created the park. Whitfield wants to create a prehistoric world filled with attractions for InGen's technology. A plan to steal embryos is devised by Hammond, which leads to a wild swarm of dinosaurs on Isla Nublar.

With the help of a local expert, the group meets many dinosaurs and their hordes predatory relatives. Despite being assured repeatedly that the park is safe they discover that the park is in danger.

Kenner produced toys based upon the Jurassic Park series of dinosaurs for many decades. Jurassic Junior is also a line for children.

Hasbro became the producer of toys for Jurassic Park 2, and in 2015 released Lego Jurassic World. Playskool, also responsible for Jurassic Park III, also produced many toy sets.
