Death, some people have no problem talking about it while others refuse to. Regardless of ethnicity, culture, class, education, region or religion many people simply refuse to have anything to do with the subject of death. Here are seven reasons people fear death.

Whatever we decide about cremation or burial, we will also want to have a funeral. A funeral is where you show your love and appreciation for your pet. Let's think of some ways in which Hamster was special. Maybe you'd like to draw a picture. When you are finished, we can have the funeral in the backyard. You can also put Hamster's favorite things in the box with him. You may collect flowers from the garden and some special stones to decorate the grave. A grave is what you call the place where you bury Hamster. Next week we can make a stepping stone with Hamster's name on it and place it on the grave. This afternoon, we can find pictures of Hamster and make a collage.

While this is a game, it's also what to do when conversation dies. Think about some subject someone mentioned, and think of something else to talk about. As an example: someone spoke of a vacation to Hawaii. When the conversation wanes, ask yourself what Hawaii makes you think of: pineapples, the TV show Hawaii-Five-O, surfing? You can then bring up this other subject.

Have you ever come to a red light and didn't want to stop? You could see the side streets were empty, so you knew it was "safe" to run the red light-i.e., you weren't going to hit another car. Did you stop anyway? If so, why? Or maybe you didn't stop, because you didn't see any police cars and figured your chances of getting caught were virtually nil. No police cars equated to no deterrent.

We need not be such great Saints. But at our level, we should know how to tolerate pain. Most of us are afraid to have an ordinary injection since it causes pain. We should develop the habit withstanding pain however strong it may be. There were several freedom fighters who boldly faced the gallows which caused him death.

The first point of dealing with the death of a loved one is to accept loss as a basic part of our life cycle. Anything that is born must eventually die - this is the law of the universe. When we are young, we tend to forget that our physical bodies are mortal. We also tend to overlook the fragility of life around us. Because we are so consumed in our daily routines, we forget that the physical universe around us; is only temporary. If we continually remember this fact then we will be able to find our inner source of happiness and security. Accepting a limitation related to our human life is only the beginning of dealing with the death of a loved one.



Was it my fault that she died? No, there wasn't anything you did. Your pet died because she received injuries when she was hit by the car. The injuries damaged her heart and it stopped beating. Her lungs stopped taking in air. She stopped breathing and her life-part left her body. Or, if the dog was old, he died of old age. He was all worn out and his heart stopped beating and he died.
