Robert's senses of humor are quite funny, despite his serious job. He describes Synanon cult "the one you should beat" when it is about sheer bastardry. His utter shock at their attempt by the Synanon to kill an Intrepid Reporter, by placing a rattlesnake into his mailbox, was a great example of how absurd Robert's sense of humor is.
It's not a good idea. Evans has documented many people who are incredibly stupid and flawed, given too much power by luck and systemic fiat. Reinhard Heydrich (Hitler's chief architect and brain behind the death camp systems) was said to have been motivated by the desire to become rich, powerful and famous.
