1. The batteries installed in our trucks must be properly maintained to maximize service life and ensure that our customers do not experience battery-related problems. To facilitate this, U-Haul centers are to implement our Battery-Maintenance Program, which will dramatically improve our customer's experience and eliminate costs associated with emergency-aid battery calls.
2.Battery chargers (product number 2606AB) must be in use at all times, rotated through trucks on a daily basis as part of the general maintenance of batteries.
You do not need to remove the battery(ies) from a truck for charging.
Use a 100-foot extension cord (product number CC02309).
Removing the battery caps or adding fluid is not necessary.
When a truck is attached to the charger, place its key on the battery-charger hook on your Equipment Inventory Management Board.
3.When a truck is slow-cranking or has a dead battery(ies), DO NOT jump-start the truck and dispatch the customer; doing so will result in multiple Hotline calls. Trucks that are slow-cranking or have a dead battery(ies) MUST have the battery(ies) properly CHARGED or REPLACED. Any dead battery(ies) must be charged for 24 hours before the truck is rented.
4.Jump-starting trucks is allowed ONLY for emergency-aid situations using another truck or car.

Centers are not authorized to have boosters at their store.

If jump started, customers must be directed to the nearest location at which the battery(ies) can be CHARGED or REPLACED before the customer continues with their move.

Here are some examples of when to jump start a truck;

Getting the truck back to a center or shop once the customer has finished using it.
Getting the truck off the road after a breakdown and to a center or shop to repair it.
