This classic tee shirt is a must-have, no matter if you are a Joy Division fan or just want to add a great album cover to your collection. It features artwork taken from Unknown Pleasures, the band's debut studio album. This shirt is great for jamming to tracks such as Disorder, Shadowplay and She's Losing Control Again.
This tee-shirt is available in black. Made from 100% cotton, it has a soft feel and highlights the artwork. It features a standard fit, a crew neckline, and short sleeves. It is printed in the UK using low-waste printing technology. It is also produced in a factory powered by renewable energy.
Peter Saville created the Joy Division Shirt to celebrate their groundbreaking 1979 debut album Unknown Pleasures. It is widely recognized as one of post-punk's most influential albums and is a rock icon by many of the top music publications around the globe.
Joy Division was founded in Salford in England in 1976. The group included Ian Curtis (vocalist), Bernard Sumner (guitar), Peter Hook (bass) and Stephen Morris (drummer). Although initially inspired by early punk, the group evolved their own sound, later referred to as "post-punk".
Martin Hannett produced the first album, which was released in 1979. Hannett used many unconventional recording techniques to create the album. It was Curtis’s first studio album, and it was an important milestone in the history of post-punk.
Joy Division shirt and style would change over time but their approach and style remained the same. They would go on to be one of the most influential rock bands of all time, and helped create a new style of music known as post-punk.
They are also known for their live performances, and the use of drum machines and synthesizers to create their songs. Their music would continue to be influential on many artists through the years, as New Order was formed.
Joy Division created their own sound in 1970s London's smoky clubs. This was the beginning of modern music. Unknown Pleasures, their debut album was critically acclaimed by critics and loved by fans all over the globe.
Joy Division shirt featured an intriguing white-on black line drawing. This creates a feeling of mystery. This cover art has been used across decades on t-shirts and posters as well as babygrows and trainers.
It has been parodied, remixed, rearranged and rebuilt many times. However, it remains a powerful addition to any music lover’s closet. But what does it actually mean?
Peter Saville (English art director and graphic designer) designed the design. His design was based on radio emissions from a rotating neutronstar or pulsar. This image, which was transformed into flat lines to represent the silence of a dying planet, has been copied millions of times since it was released in 1979. Saville retained his original design, but added the text "No Music on a Dead Plant" underneath the waveform design.
