When a Loved One dies, the shock and anxiety can paralyze a family. Often things which should be done right away are ignored while the family is coping with its grief. However, preventive steps taken now can avoid regret later. Here are steps 1-10 on our Ten Things To Do In The First 24 Hours After Someone Dies series.



While this is a game, it's also what to do when conversation dies. Think about some subject someone mentioned, and think of something else to talk about. As an example: someone spoke of a vacation to Hawaii. When the conversation wanes, ask yourself what Hawaii makes you think of: pineapples, the TV show Hawaii-Five-O, surfing? You can then bring up this other subject.


Some writers refer to a realm, the borderland, found at the outer edge of the mental realms, where all the material aspect of life is manifest in its purest state. It is believed that the soul who gets here in this realm is definitely aware of a change, or awakening. Senses are sharper and more sensitive. The soul/spirit finds its true being. In this realm, one feels like one just emerged from a hazy daze. The surroundings are familiar- places, faces of people you've known who passed on before you, some unknown souls who may have shared some connection on earth.

Some wet patches of the de-greaser will need to be pushed down the body of the die with the rod. Dry batches will also need to be run through the body to make sure that no liquid is left behind.


Before we get to the biblical view of this angel, I want to give you a number of non-biblical views concerning the death Angel. The electronic Jewish encyclopedia reads, It is said of the angel of death that he is full of eyes. In the hour of death, he stands at the head of the departing one with a drawn sword, to which clings a drop of gall. As soon as the dying man sees the angel, he is seized with a convulsion and opens his mouth, whereupon the angel throws the drop in to it. This drop causes his death; he turns putrid, and his face becomes yellow.

What is not cheap is keeping a convicted killer alive for thirty years and paying hundreds of expensive lawyers millions of dollars to plead his case in endless appeals while he writes children's books and eventually dies of cancer or old age. When people try to make you feel outraged at the "cost of executions", that is what they're really talking about.

Suffering loss is painful, no matter who you have lost. Grief is part of the healing process, but often you will need help to come to terms with your pain and loss. Seeking help does not mean that you are weak, it shows that you are strong enough to accept that you can feel the loss of another, and are strong enough ask for help.
