Guidance Design for Hoonigan Merch
Hoonigan Merch, an apparel brand for enthusiasts of cars made of high-end fabrics. Hoonigan Merch is situated in Golden Avenue, Long Beach, California and sell t-shirts, hats, socks, belts bandsanas, backpacks, backpacks and beanies. They also make metal keychains as well as dog leashes, plate frames, and other items.

Hoonigan is a lifestyle brand that focuses on motorsports. brand, was founded by Ken Block in Long Beach, California. This brand is focused on creating content that demonstrates their love for cars and the thrill they feel when they push them to their limits. This content is targeted at the majority of males who has a love for driving.



The brand's signature viral videos, Gymkhana, began on YouTube and have exploded to over 550 million views on multiple platforms. These entertaining and hilarious videos portray Block's swinging, bat-shit driving style.


These videos are part of a greater series of themed video content Hoonigan developed to market their products. The videos also contain events targeted to their young audience predominantly male.


Guidance's team worked closely with Hoonigan to develop a website that effectively showcased the rich, immersive video content, and increase the sales of their custom merch and automotive parts. Shopify Plus was their preferred platform, but they faced certain challenges due to the sheer amount of content on offer and the customizations required by their own brand.


Their first challenge was to present their enormous amount of content in a simple format that allows viewers to enjoy it at their own pace. Guidance established a new structure for categories and episode pages that enabled Hoonigan to add new content quickly and provide an easy experience for viewers who wish to view the latest episodes.


They also developed templates to ensure that the site's scalability is nearly unlimited, so it is able to be extended to include a growing library of content. The site is now much easier to navigate and fun to browse.


Hoonigan also produces original video content and a variety of podcasts, articles, and podcasts related to topics such as car customization, driving safety and culture of the automobile. The website needed to connect these components in a manner that made it easy for users to find what they were looking for and to purchase it on the website.


Hoonigan's content editors had to be able quickly develop various types of content. This was done by using shortcodes inside the editor of content.


When you add a shortcode to the text, the writer can insert it within their content and then show it whenever the article is posted. This allows Hoonigan's content editors to seamlessly incorporate new content, so they will never lose the ability to make modifications to their website.


Another obstacle was creating an Gold Sticker program that would give shoppers free items when they bought certain products. This was an excellent method to give back to the community and also offer shoppers incentives, however it could also add complications to the site and drive up the cost of operating it.
