Tune Your Car - Save Cold Hard Cash

First and foremost in these recessionary days is the cost, purchasing here will reduce your outlay significantly. Used parts from the auto salvage yard are even cheaper than spurious parts. You may also buy it from the Internet if you are willing to pay for the shipping costs that may be associated with the auto parts. This can be pretty high if you are not ready for it and are not willing to shell out the money for it.

The clerk at the car store near me will either find your filter in stock or order it for you. Select the type of oil the manufacturer of your vehicle recommends. A common grade of engine oil is 10W30. Select the size of oil container your vehicle usually uses for a refill. Mine usually uses about four litres of oil. You will need an oil filter wrench that will fit your size of oil filter and a box end wrench to fit the size of oil pan bolt your vehicle has. They are commonly about one half of an inch. Be sure you have a variety of wrenches available around that size. You will need a metal pan about six inches deep which should be large enough to hold more than four litres of oil. These are readily available at hardware stores. You will need some newspapers and rags to wipe your hands on.

While you're at the auto supply store, be sure to buy car store wax. Waxing is an important step in washing a car that some people forget. When you add wax to a clean car, you are giving it a protective coat that looks good and helps preserve the car's exterior. Heat, cold, wind, and rain can gradually erode a car's paint, which leaves the metal underneath exposed and at risk. Once rust sets in, there's no turning back. A simple coat of wax will help keep this from happening.

One of the markets that you are opened up to online, is that of the car breakers. These are people who buy a car that is no longer fit for the road, and they literally take it apart piece by piece and sell it. For those who sell these parts online, this is like having access to a car scrap yard without having to go and negotiate with a gruff car scrapyard owner. For those of us who know relatively little about cars and prefer not to have to face the prospect of pointing out to an expert which car parts we need, this can be a big relief!
