Shoresy Decoration (Movie Review)


Shoresy Decoration, a Canadian spin-off from the Letterkenny series is set in Sudbury. It is a comedy starring the foul-mouthed , hockey star who was among the most memorable characters on the show. Shoresy is a show that Jared Keeso created and stars the same actors from the original series. The show follows a group of misfits who are part of the Sudbury Bulldogs, Northern Ontario Senior Hockey Organization in their bid to win the championship.




The Sudbury Bulldogs are in serious trouble, suffering from a losing streak that seems to be growing worse. Nat Teles, the team owner, decides to bring in an assistant coach to improve the situation. She goes with Shoresy's best friend, Sanguinet (Harlan Blayne Kytwayhat) who has a positive approach to coaching.



While the new coach may be somewhat eccentric, he's extremely sensitive to his players. He's not content to offer his thoughts on how the players should play. He also promotes positive reinforcement, and takes note of their actions in their respective roles and together as a team.



He even tries to give younger players a shot. Fish was a good illustration of this. He began as a floater, but he soon began taking fucking shots at the face and blocking them with his body. Though he wasn't the kind of player that Shoresy wanted, he performed his job.



What makes Shoresy Decoration apart from the original series, however the main difference is that it follows the tone of Letterkenny with a particular focus on the underdog aspect of sports comedy rather than a humorous humour. It also makes its characters unite to defend their team. This is a great tone change and makes Shoresy Decoration appear more authentic that is essential for a sports-themed comedy.



It is also top-notch writing. The humorous banter between characters and the manner in which they're introduced keeps you entertained as the characters are well-developed. It's a blast to watch Nat perform her duties and interact with the other characters on the team.



I'm also a major fan of Shoresy's Indigenous characters comprising a trio of "native" hockey players who are played by Jon Mirasty and Brandon Nolan. Their presence on the team enhances its appeal , and also gives a sense authenticity that reflects the sport.



There's plenty of amusement to be had. But it's not the primary theme of Shoresy Decoration. It's the characters coming together to play the game with an intensity and determination that is hard to not smile at. Shoresy Merch is a must-watch show for fans of the original series and also sports comedy.
