Basic BlackJack Strategy
Contrary to what many gamblers think, blackjack is not just an improbable game. A majority of casinos are games that involve guessing. There are two strategies for blackjack. The strategy was developed by those who played hands at their kitchen tables. Tens of thousands, thousand, and even hundreds of thousands of hands were needed for some decisions. Let me give you a different example to illustrate the maths of probability and statistics, the logic behind basic strategies. Let's imagine I have a jar containing one hundred marbles. The marbles are black and fifty of them are white. Blindfolded, reach in and grab one marble. But, before fun games do this, place a bet of $1 on the marble you select will be black or white. If you find the color you guessed, you win $ 1; if not the marble is black, you will lose $ 1.

Are you guessing?

Absolutely. It's impossible to predict the color of marble you'll pull out ahead of time. It's a good thing if you win. If you lose, it's bad luck.

But what if you know that ninety of those marbles are black, and only ten are white? Would you rather bet black or white before you draw? Any intelligent person would bet on black. It is possible for you to find the white marble, however, you're much less likely to pull out a white marble as opposed to one that is black. It's a guessing game , and you can still lose $1 if a white marble is taken out. However, if you bet on black, the odds favor the black marble.


Professional gamblers earn their livelihood by constantly thinking about "the odds" and only placing bets when the odds favor him. With this bet, the gambler would bet on black because odds are 9 to 1 in his favor. You'll have 9:1 chances of losing if choose white.

There is a chance that you will lose when the dealer displays an upcard of 10. However, odds are against you when the dealer displays the number 10.

If you decide through hunches and intuitions you might win some hands, but you will lose more hands in the long run. There is only one right option for any particular play and that decision is made solely based on mathematics. Whether or not you should hit or stand or double down or even split the pair is dependent on the rules of probability show your expectation to be for each of these possibilities.
