"Sadly, the Liaison program is a shadow of what it could be. As a student pointed out in one of her posts (that also swore) ""there are no rules"".

Obviously, she's not correct. There are plenty of rules. And the particular student violated quite a few of them just with that one post. However, she received no consequences for her actions. The only reason this site isn't complete chaos is because most of the members of HiH are very nice individuals and HoHs are able to hide/delete posts and Keith can do IP bans.

But, as we all know, Keith is not around enough to be timely with bans. At the very least, Professors should be able to assign 'detentions' (ranging from short, time-restrained bans from accessing the site to permanent bans: aka expulsion) and dock actual points when students are not in compliance with the site's code of conduct. Ideally-- since it's kind of in our job description-- Liaisons would have a similar power (perhaps watered down) too so we aren't just figureheads. Because that's all we really are. If a student comes to me and I discover (with lots of screenshots and proof, etc) that one student is bullying another all I can do is write messages and sit on my hands and hope that myself or HoH can talk some sense into them. We just watch the feeds for people doing things they aren't supposed to and go tattle to the HoHs. We're tattle-tales, not Liaisons. We never interact because if we did (in the most polite, professional way possible) to tell the rule-breaker that they were breaking X rule and there would be Y consequence, the student could tell us to go bugger ourselves and not much could be done about it until Keith showed up.

Sorry, I'm really not mad. Just frustrated. Not even with the Professors or other staff administration. Just with the futility of seeing site rules trampled on and being able to do nothing to stop it. "
