History's worst characters are fascinating, regardless of whether they were crazy colonialists, insane Nazis, or just plain odd people. They made a lasting impression on the world and provided fascinating insights into the human condition.

Behind the Bastards podcast is hosted by Robert Evans. Each week, Evans dives into the lives of one of history’s most notorious bastards with a guest. In a series of episodes, it covers their rise and fall to power, quirks, and more.

Each episode features guests like Paul F. Tompkins and Sophie Garrison Davis. They also discuss their rise to power and their peculiar quirks. The episodes are kept lighthearted and entertaining with a few jokes and digressions.

Prophetic Name: Although not an exact science, Robert believes that people's names often dictate their destiny. For example, he believed Bjorn Lomborg would become a climate denier when he was a teenager. Another example is the case of Paige Patterson, a strange religious leader who later became the dictator in modern-day Syria.

Realpolitik: There are many instances where governments or states allowed people to keep their power because of their political beliefs. Some of the most famous dictators include Hitler, Leopold II, and King Charles XIV.

Ambition is Evil: It's clear from the list of bastards that most were driven by ambition to become rich, powerful, or famous. behind the bastards merch was the Holocaust's chief architect. He was so obsessed with power, he was obsessed with building death camps.

Karma Houdini - This is another common trope. Many of these bastards have never been brought to trial, either because they lived long and didn't face punishment or because they avoided being caught for many years. The fact that many of the most horrendous crimes were committed during wartime is another reason. People in authority took them too lightly and didn’t do enough to stop them from performing their duties.
