They are afraid that it will lure death to them. They are superstitious! In order to prepare, you may need to think about a relaxing setting in which you can bring up the subject and have an informal chat with them about their wishes. You might tell them what you would like if you died. And then gently ask them what they would like. Tell them that it would be a loving gesture to you if they would give it some thought and tell you what they have decided.

Set up a bank account in the estate's name. Family members should not pay out of pocket for anything because it can increase the value of the estate. This could also increase inheritance taxes etc.
