As fear is one of the basic feelings, many are simply frightened to think about death, or at least to ask, "What will happen to me?" Instead, they just do not think and do not speak about death. According to us, it is completely wrong. Dead is not what many imagine it to be. It should be discussed and analyzed - the fear of dead should be transformed into a belief that one stage in our existence ends and another starts.


The search for a "humane" form of execution has been going on for centuries. In 1789 France, a man named Dr. Joseph-Ignace Guillotine was looking for such a method when he devised a machine that still carries his name and is now considered one of the most barbaric instruments of death ever fashioned. As horrific as it was, the guillotine was a major step forward in the history of cruelty.

Maybe the people of the old testament didn't know about eternal life. True, New Testament believers seem more ready to die, but there is Old Testament reference to eternal life and resurrection. Genesis 5: 24. Job 19:25 -26. Isaiah 26:19. Daniel 12:2.

Keep in mind Jesus didn't say, "You will never die," he said, "You will never see death." When his opponents were trying to clarify what they had heard they changed it a bit by asking him, "Are you saying that if we keep your commandments we will never taste death?" They substituted the word 'taste' for 'see' but Jesus never corrected them.


And even if it isn't, it should still be used. It isn't called "capital deterrence", it's called "capital punishment". Let the punishment fit the crime.
