Rythu Bandhu Scheme by Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

During his tenure, Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu has implemented the Rythu Bandhu scheme in order to ensure that farmers are not forced to sell their produce at low prices. This scheme, which came into effect in 1993-94, is currently being run in market yards where there are godowns (warehouses).

The basic objective of the scheme is to provide farmers with a loan of 50,000 rupees, or 75% of the production value (whichever is less) from the market committees. This is to ensure that farmers can store their crops when prices are low and wait for better prices to sell. During the year 2002-2003, 73.66 lakh rupees were provided to 20,414 farmers under this scheme.
Farmers are provided with complete security and insurance facilities for their stored crops. The loan can be kept for the first 90 days without any interest and if the right price is not reached at this time, there is a facility to extend the loan for another 90 days. Additionally, the Department of Civil Supplies will open additional purchase centres to procure grain at minimum support prices.

The government is working tirelessly to ensure that farmers are able to sell their produce at fair prices and make a profit.
The scheme also helps to stabilize the market for agricultural produce. When farmers can store their crops and wait for better prices, they are less likely to flood the market with their products, which can cause prices to drop. This helps to ensure that farmers can earn a fair income and also helps to prevent the wastage of agricultural produce.
In addition to providing loans and insurance facilities, the scheme also provides farmers with access to additional purchase centers. These centers help to ensure that farmers can sell their produce at fair prices, even when market prices are low. This is particularly important for small and marginal farmers who may not have access to markets and buyers.
