Egremont Russet - dryer and firm fruit, perfect with Cheddar Cheese or on it's own
Laxton's ???something I remember this was used in dessert dishes by grandma and we also ate it in hand with lots of juice
and, of course, those apples that grew in the fruit orchard that I have either forgotten, or never knew the names of.
There was also a large cider orchard, and my grandfather was well known for the quality of his cider and the pranks that he played on the new postmen, Policemen and certain other visiting tradesmen who might have been lacking in country kudos when invited to a free sample.
