What is the Thai Lotto?
The Thai Lotto is a state-run lottery, operated by the Government Lottery Office (GLO). It is one of the two forms of legal gambling in Thailand. Ticket sales are allocated to social causes, such as disability organizations. These tickets are sold to registered retail vendors, who then sell them to the public.

In 2014, there were 76 million baths of lottery tickets sold in Thailand. This is equal to US$2.3 billion. A total of 67 million people played the government lottery.

The Thai lottery has two types of tickets. One type grants a bonus prize of 30 million baht. Another type awards a bonus prize of 22 million baht. The prize is subject to administrative costs, which are not higher than 9% of the revenue generated from the ticket sales.

Aside from the bonus prizes, the Thai lottery also offers a first prize of 6 million baht. If a player wins the jackpot, he or she has to claim the prize within two years of the draw date. Before claiming the prize, the winner must present his or her passport and lottery ticket. He or she will then fill out a claim form.

Tickets are sold through agents, brokers and retailers. For smaller prizes, these are cashed out at authorized retail venues. However, all winners are required to pay stamp duty. On prizes worth less than B20,000, stamp duty is payable.

When you purchase a ticket, you get a six-digit number. Then, the numbers are drawn. Then, the draw chairman selects a colored ball, which signifies different prizes. Once the ball is selected, the Draw Chairman checks for anomalies.
