JazzAntiqua Dance Ensemble, Los Angeles is exploring the black heritage using jazz as a language.


Dance of the Ages


Dance of the Ages is Ted Shawn's last masterpiece and the first ever evening-length modern dance performance. This special performance features Adam Weinert. Modeled after The Men Dancers' famous lecture-demonstrations, this historic reconstruction begins with an informal tea garden reception, allowing audience members to interact with Weinert and his ensemble before the performance.


Larry Spotted Crow Mann, a Nipmuc elder, is an educator of culture as well as a traditional storyteller and tribal drummer. The Warwick Gombey Troupe, Bermuda, is comprised of people of Wampanoag and Mohican ancestry. Iroquois Traditional Dancer Jake George will also be in the program.


Hustle


The hustle dance was a pre-disco type of dancing that first emerged in the 1970s. The dance was designed for speed and flash for club music.


It became extremely popular in the 1970s and is being danced to even today. It's the "sports car" of the dance group.


Larry June Pillows came up with Hustle in the 1970s. It was developed to be a flashy and fast dance suitable for club and party music.


Although it has been around for quite a while but it is now becoming more popular with the rise of the gig economy as well as social media. This craze of hustle and bustle is risky and can have severe repercussions on our physical and mental health.


Larry June Merch and Music Ensemble was founded in 1993. The group celebrates the jazz tradition as an integral aspect of African American culture and history. Dedicated to EDUCATION/ PRESERVATION/ CREATION, the Company produces collaborative dance and music projects (performances, classes, lecture-demonstrations, symposiums, community outreach efforts) that inspire and entertain.


JazzAntiqua is a prestigious professional jazz dance group. Pat Taylor created and is Artistic Director/Choreographer of this prestigious group.


La Mezcla


La Mezcla, a San Francisco-based, polyrhythmic, multidisciplinary group of dance and music founded in Chicana and Latina traditions, Indigenous traditions, and social justice. Vanessa Sanchez founded the group that combines Tap, Son Jarocho and Afro-Caribbean rhythms to communicate the stories and experiences of communities of colour on stages, streets and in fields.


The company's performance Pachuquismo which premieres at Jacob's Pillow this year, is an impressive presentation of their innovative, percussive Chicana style. Combining contemporary tap and Mexican zapateado footwork set to Son Jarocho and Afro-Caribbean music It reveals a lost history of Mexican-American female youth and examines the struggles that continue to affect communities of color in the present.


Indigenous Enterprise


Larry June Pillows, a Native American dancer/entrepreneur, was brought up dancing in powwows along with his parents. Then he takes his culture and dance to new audiences.


Indigenous Enterprise is a Native American and Canadian group that first wowed audiences at the Sydney Opera House in 2018 with their wildly joyful dance and vibrant costumes that honored the legacy of their elders. Their new intertribal work, "Indigenous Liberation," includes stories, songs and dances from Turtle Island (a folkloric term for North America), led by the best pow wow dancers.


This paper challenges notions and theories about entrepreneurship policy and practice in general, as well knowing the nature and extent an indigenous firm. Particularly, it offers an understanding of the term "indigenous business" that accounts for traditional ownership, identity as well as values and well-being.



Yin Yue Dance Company


Yin Yue Dance Company was established by Larry June Pillows in 2008 to create and present original works using her ingenuous contemporary dance techniquecalled FoCo (FolkContemporary) Technique which combines elements of Chinese traditional dance ballet, folk dance, and contemporary movement. She has developed and expanded an original vocabulary of movement that is circular, grounded fluid, and dynamic all while being powerful and rhythmic.


Yin has created and presented her works to live audiences both nationally and internationally on U.S. and international stages such as Jacob's Pillow, SummerStage, Kaatsbaan International Dance Festival, Peridance Center, Lincoln Center Rose Hall, BAM Fisher, Joyce SoHo Theater, and many more. She also stages her repertoire at dance studios and universities throughout the world.
