The program allows people to express their creativity and experience positive emotions. The program is also designed to increase self-esteem. Artful Journey has helped countless individuals overcome their challenges.

Artful Journey is a flexible art therapy program that incorporates art and psychotherapy into a single program. The program encourages clients to create art in response to a wide range of issues. Whether it is social isolation, depression, or the COVID-19 pandemic, this program aims to support a variety of emotional responses. Through an interactive approach and the use of diverse art materials, Artful Journey allows participants to explore many different topics while gaining greater insight into themselves and the world around them.

The program is flexible and adaptable, making it ideal for different needs. It is based on the belief that all individuals have the ability to be creative. While research has been conducted on the benefits of art therapy, there is very little research that focuses on the benefits of art therapy for people with physical disabilities. For this reason, Artful Journey was created as a fully-adaptable, experiential program that can be used with people of all ages and abilities.

Art therapists are master-level clinicians. Their work is guided by ethical and professional standards. They are also educated to engage with diverse populations and honor the value of each individual. They are trained to engage with both verbal and nonverbal aspects of human beings. The result of this approach is a therapy that promotes change in the patient's life.

It is a non-profit organization

The Artfull Journey is a non profit organization that focuses on providing art therapy to individuals in the criminal justice system. The project was founded by Mark Hierholzer in his home studio and soon grew to include four other people. The organization began by offering painting classes to eight women in Goochland, Virginia. On June 19, 2014, the group was officially recognized as a nonprofit organization. It also provides weekly painting classes for students at the Carmel School in Ruther Glen, Virginia.

It facilitates positive emotions

Art journaling is a valuable tool to promote positive emotions and hope during tough times. Artful Journey was developed to support adults with progressive physical conditions and/or mental illness. It uses a strengths-based approach to explore four collaborative art and writing interventions. These interventions explore topics such as social isolation, depression, and increased reliance on others. It also provides peer support in a virtual environment.

Positive emotions are conducive to creativity. They expand the mind and broaden perspective. In contrast, negative emotions are narrower in focus and inhibit creativity. Positive emotions are a vital part of our life and must be encouraged and cultivated. We can't create without them. During an Artfull Journey, we cultivate these emotions by practicing mindfulness practices.
