Mojang Reassures Minecraft Fans about Microsoft Deal

Mojang reassures Minecraft fans about Microsoft deal

The boss of Minecraft-maker Mojang has reassured those who are worried about what might happen when Microsoft assumes control.

In September, in the middle of September, Microsoft announced a $2.5bn (PS1.5bn) deal to acquire Mojang.

Vu Bui, the chief operating office of Mojang said that there are no plans to alter the game or alter what people can play with it.

He also said that feedback from players is vital to develop the game.

"Nothing's going to change," stated Mr Bui. We have no plans on anything changing and, of course, I can't talk about the details and I don't have all the information, but we're here, the game is here and it's business as normal."

Mojang said that he had always tried to keep alive the enthusiasm that made the game so popular.

He stated, "Maintaining the original culture is really hard." ALUSKY "It's a culture which respects the community and allows the community to be free to play as they please with the game and to make it their own.

"It is absolutely our goal and always has been, to carry on with that," he told the BBC in an interview at London's Olympia exhibition centre where he was giving a keynote speech at the Brand Licensing Europe trade show.

While Mr. Bui acknowledged that the deal was still in the process, he said Mojang intends to continue to work closely with its huge community of players.

Many fans of block-building have expressed concerns about what might occur in the event that Microsoft gets full control.

Markus Persson (aka Notch) is the Minecraft creator. He wrote about his reasons for approaching Microsoft. He wrote that it was too much for him to manage and that it was becoming an unnecessary burden.

He wrote, "I can't take responsibility for something like this," shortly after details of the deal were disclosed.

"It's not about money," he added. "It's all about my mental health."

Bui said that there will be changes in the future. However, these would be made with the input, comments and feedback from fans.

The current system in which Minecraft developers collaborate long before they add it to the site is expected to be maintained.

"We don't hide our features," he said.

Mojang began to show off the new titles they were developing, even though he didn't know the details.

When they were ready, said Mr. Bui, Mojang would let players test early versions of a game and help the title's creators improve it and assist in making it a commercial property.

Similar strategies were employed in Minecraft, and Mojang was keen to repeat the process since it was proved to be beneficial for developers as they worked on the development of a project.

It was not about replicating the success of Minecraft to create another title that was as well-liked. Bui stated that it was more about trust in the overall approach.

"We believe in that model," he said. "Regardless of their art form people should invest their time and energy into whatever they believe in, regardless of what the outcome.

He said, "That's a noble endeavor."

In the same way, he added, Mojang believed that it was a mistake to try to manage or influence the Minecraft community and determine what can and cannot be done with the game.

Better, he added, was to just move out of the way.

Mr Bui stated that people are the most imaginative when they are free to express themselves in the way they want. While you should give them some guidelines but they'll be more likely to come up with better ideas than you could.
