Minecraft's Latest Snapshot Updates Chat Reports to Ensure a Non-abuse-free Building

Minecraft is a game that needs to be played with your friends. Sometimes you'll all be mucking in to create something awesome or perhaps using mods to recreate Elden Ring, and at times you'll be searching for servers online to see what the internet offers. If you are playing online and with strangers there are times when things can become messy, and that seems to be the problem that the latest Minecraft snapshot is trying to solve.



Minecraft snapshot 22W24A is out now, and it's building towards 1.19.1 by adding a few bug fixes and two new features. Chat reporting is the most important feature. This allows you to report abusive messages being sent in game chat. The blog says that "any reports made during testing periods will not be considered," but that it is crucial to acknowledge that toxic players are a major part of any online game. This could be an important move.



Chat reporting is accessible within the social interactions screen, and you'll need to report the individual chat messages and choose an appropriate category for them as well. This is likely to stop abuse of the system. It is not possible to make a general report about a player. You have to specify what they did. The blog says that your report will be scrutinized by a moderator team. There's no way to know what will constitute a genuine and effective report however it's important to know the details.



The other major change is that you are now able to duplicate the awesome Minecraft allay. It is possible to duplicate it by giving them an amethyst shard, but duplicates come with the benefit of a 2.5-minute timer. This should ease any concerns about how many allay mobs are out there. Plus, an adorable thing can only be good news isn't it?
