Several Christian preachers have made blood moon prophecies over the last few years. The prophecies have surrounded the four full moons in 2014 and 2015. What do these predictions mean? The Incan warriors used to scare away eclipses. Is there some truth to the Blood Moon prophecy?
Incan warriors try to scare away eclipses
The mythology surrounding eclipses dates back centuries. The Incas worshipped a lunar goddess called Mama Quilla, and they believed that a serpent or animal attacked her, causing the blood-red color of the Moon. They used various methods to scare away the predator. Some believed that the solar eclipses caused sickness, while others believed that the effects of the sunlight are harmful.
Biblical prophecy
In the Bible, a blood moon is prophesied as one of several cosmic apocalyptic events. The Bible does not specify when the moon will turn blood, but it does warn us to be alert and watchful. Luke 21:36 warns us that something will trigger great tribulation before the great day of the Lord.
Some Christians are concerned that these moons will bring a cataclysmic event this month. Christian Zionist John Hagee has publicized this prediction and even created a movie about it called Four Blood Moons. Hagee says that these events are important because they are prophesied to signal the end of the world.
Hagee believes that the blood moon tetrad will be significant for Israel. This is a grouping of four total lunar eclipses that occur over a year. Hagee believes that something will happen to Israel between April 2014 and September 2015.
Hagee's prophecy
Christian preachers have made prophecies related to the blood moons. In 2014, a series of four full moons occurred. In 2015, four more full moons will occur. The blood moons are believed to indicate the end of the world. The prophecies have been widely debated.
The apocalyptic worldview has been growing in popularity over the past forty or fifty years, as people fear that the world's problems are too large for us to solve on our own. Hagee combines these two scenarios and claims that the blood moons are signs that God will destroy the world in order to fix its problems.
John Hagee's book "An End Time Blood Moon Prophecy" has attracted a large following. Hagee, a well-known prophet and a prominent Christian figure, claims that the blood moon occurs just before the apocalypse. His theory was originally based on eclipse charts from NASA. He began to put together the theory in 2008 and published his book in 2014.
Other apocalyptic beliefs
There are many apocalyptic beliefs about this lunar phenomenon. Some believe it could signal the end times. These predictions are based on the fact that this particular lunar eclipse is part of a tetrad, which is a four-day sequence of total lunar eclipses. Other people believe that this blood moon is linked to a major natural disaster or even the current political state of the world.
Christian evangelists have also spread the word about the blood moon prophecy. Mark Biltz and John Hagee have both prophesied a blood moon for the Jewish holiday of Passover in 2014 and 2015. They claimed the blood moons would signal the end of the world and warn people of Jesusas imminent return. Since then, they've stopped promoting the blood moon.
In the Book of Joel, the blood moon is mentioned. It's also mentioned in Revelation 6:12. Peter also mentions the blood moon during the Pentecost feast.
