Minecraft Java Edition 1.19.1 is out now and it comes with some controversial changes, that some players aren't content with.
First, player reporting has been added to the system. This lets players report abusive messages on game chat. Thewatr.net You can report specific servers, and choose multiple messages to include, as well as include comments. From there, Mojang / Microsoft moderators will review the reports and respond to the issues. It applies to everyone, including private servers. Another change to text chat is linking together with this. With their new secure chat system, it will leave a note on the chat for each message that is not sent via it or if the server tampered with it.
Mojang say people won't be banned for swearing, however it's more directed at "hate speech, harassment, bullying sexual solicitation, or making threats to other players". If you get banned it won't affect your single-player experience.
There are mods that can be utilized to get around this, for instance, the No Chat Reports mod, which claims to remove signatures from chat messages, making it "impossible for anyone to track or link your Minecraft and, in turn, Microsoft accounts with chat messages".
In case you missed it, Mojang also recently said no to NFTs and blockchain in Minecraft.
