Joining a public Minecraft server is very very easy. To start the main Minecraft game, just open the Minecraft launcher. Click Play to start it. When you arrive at the main Minecraft title screen, click the Multiplayer button, and then click the Add Minecraft Server button to add the Minecraft server.
Then, type in a name for your Minecraft server in the server name box. Then, in the server address box, enter the Minecraft server address. Most likely, it will be an IP address, or domain name. an IP address, like 1.2.3.4. Click "Done" and the Minecraft server will be added to your Minecraft server list.
It's as easy as choosing the Minecraft server from the list and clicking on the Join Server button. Now let's look at a couple of problems that could arise when joining a Minecraft server.
Whitelisted Minecraft servers are protected with whitelists, which are a list that allows users to join the server. To join a whitelisted Minecraft server, you will need to apply to have your Minecraft username added to the whitelist (a list of minecraft names that are able to join). Typically, this requires filling out a form and waiting a few hours or days. Most Minecraft servers require you to put in separate applications for you and your kid. Once you're on the whitelist, you can join the Minecraft server as described above.
Non-whitelisted Minecraft servers aren't on a whitelist. Quest This means that anyone can join the Minecraft Server by entering the address into their Minecraft Client, as you can see above.
Applying for a whitelisted Minecraft server can be a bit of a drag - especially when you have an impatient eight-year-old who is grabbing your sleeve However, it provides an additional level of assurance that all Minecraft players on the Minecraft server are known to the server administrators.
When you join an Minecraft server, one thing to be aware of is that your Minecraft client version has to match the Minecraft server version number. The Minecraft versions must be compatible or you won't be able to connect.
For instance, the current version of Minecraft is 1.16.4, but many Minecraft servers are running 1.12.2, or even 1.9.4. Sometimes the Minecraft server's website will inform you what version they're running. However, sometimes it's best to just try it out and check.
It's easy to switch between different Minecraft versions of the Minecraft client. To create multiple profiles with any Minecraft version you need to click New Profile in the Minecraft launcher. Simply select the Minecraft profile you want to use from the drop-down list within the Minecraft launcher, and then click Play.
