Stickers A Gummy History


Stickers can be described as a piece or material made of paper that has one side coated with a substance to allow it to stick to a surface. important site Wow! Or, it could have been created by a Department of Defense contractor, who was looking for a way to distinguish the dangerous from the less-dangerous. In the 1880s, European advertising gurus had the idea of helping consumers identify products using colorful paper labels. The gum paste was used to attach the colorful labels to paper. This concept was used primarily for fruit products, at least initially. The competition was fierce among orchards, so owners used stickers (also called lithography) to draw attention to their fruit. Sticking the labels to cedar crates with fruit would make them easy to sell. The concept was also used widely on vegetables cans and on cigar boxes.



Stickers can be modified a little by pre-applying the paste to the back and letting them dry. After the paste dried, you can apply water or saliva to the surface of the sticker. The past will activate and the sticker can be placed on a surface. These types of stickers were very popular as travel and luggage stickers and are considered to be collectors items today.

The concept of stickers was born from the pre-pasted labels. R. Stanton Avery produced the first self-adhesive labels. Avery created a label/sticker with a paper surface and a coating of adhesive. The liner was then attached to the sticker. The liner had a special silicone coating that enabled the label to be removed and stuck to other surfaces. Today's stickers still follow the same basic principle of the self adhesive label Avery invented. For over 50 years stickers have became a huge marketing item for every sort of household product imaginable. Bumper stickers are also part of popular culture icons and fads because they can be used for political or social commentary.
