OSHA Employee Rights
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) provides employee rights to workers who are injured or who become ill at work. OSHA also provides training on safety rules and procedures. In addition, employees can obtain medical records related to their workplace.

In the case of a hazard, the employee can refuse to work. This is a last resort. Typically, employers are not allowed to punish workers for refusing to do their jobs.

It is important for all employees to be able to articulate the site's safety policies. It is also important for employees to bring safety concerns to their union representatives.

An OSHA compliance officer may come to the workplace to conduct an inspection. During the inspection, the employee representative may discuss health and safety issues with the inspector.

If an employer finds that a hazard is unrecognized or violated OSHA standards, he or she can apply for a variance. A variance must be approved by an executive of the company.
