Adam Mudd, a computer hacker was imprisoned for two years.
A teenage computer hacker who earned nearly PS400,000 by creating a programme which was used in 1.7 million attacks from 'Greenland to New Zealand' was jailed for two years on the day of today.
Adam Mudd, now 20 years old Adam Muddd, now 20 years old, sold access to Titanium Stresser which allowed users to crash computers and websites by flooding them with data.
He created the distributed denial of service, also known as DDoS, software from his bedroom. He began selling it to criminals when he was at school, aged 16.
More than 650,000 victims were targeted during the 1.7 million attacks, of which 52,000 were in Britain.
Victims included Xbox Live users, and gamers of the computer games Runescape and Minecraft.
Runescape was attacked more than 25,000 times, which is 1.4% of all the attacks. In the past four years, the company invested almost PS6million to secure itself from hackers.
Mudd earned a total of $307 298.35 and 259.81 Bitcoins totalling an estimated PS386,079 by the when he reached the age of 18.

With the username 'themuddfamily' he also carried out nearly 600 attacks on 181 victims from his bedroom in Kings Langley, Hertfordshire.
One 2014 attack on West Hertfordshire College, where the student was a part of his studies, was so large it could have impacted 70 schools and universities in the area, including the University of Cambridge.
He attacked his college four times in the course of the year, and later claimed it was because he'd been mugged but no action was taken according to the Old Bailey heard.

In October of last year, Mudd was convicted of computer hacking and laundering of money.

The defense had offered Mudd two weeks of paid work in cybersecurity and the judge denied their request to suspend the sentence.
