Now that the dust has settled over Amazon Games' New World the real feelings of people about the new PC game are coming to the fore. Another metric that can be used to measure this perception is New World's Steam reviews have now shifted from mixed to 'Mostly Positive'.
Recent reviews have praised the PvP and the Runescape-like nature of the crafting and gathering loop. Some even reviewers compare New World to the early days of World of Warcraft. One reviewer stated that this is the most immersive MMO she's ever played. "Very Classic WoW vibe with OSRS skills. Level 29 as of 71 hours. Chat is extremely competitive and there's plenty of drama. However PvP can be a lot of fun. Amazing sound design and map. There are some graphic and audio bugs from time to time. This is a great game for the vanilla version of Amazon's most popular MMO. It's possible to make it better with time.
New World isn’t yet completely out of the woods, however. Some of the more negative reviews focus on what some players believe is a lack of narrative, a world lacking in passion and soul and a tedious game of leveling. "New World is full of interesting ideas , but overall it feels a bit shallow and void of soul (yet somehow I'm still playing)" one reviewer says.
New World is still attracting many Steam players even though it has been released just two weeks ago. Nine days ago, the game hit the all-time record of 913,634 players and continues to reach the peak of 600,000 concurrents on a 24 hour basis, according to SteamDB.
Server issues have naturally led to. Amazon has added more server transfers to alleviate the issue. New World's server transfer will not allow you to switch regions. Many games like New World thrive better when played with your friends. It's an excellent way to find out the direction that things take.
We looked at the MMORPG and had similar thoughts. In our New World review, we noticed that its "stellar crafting experience and surprising slick combat aren't enough to compensate for the flaws in New World's dull and difficult quest design".
