Tennis-Record-chasing Isner Bids to Serve up Murray Upset

LONDON 28 June (Reuters) The American John Isner may make his mark as the best player on Wednesday with the record for all-time aces in his sights but standing in his way at Wimbledon is a man with the reputation of taking on big servers, Andy Murray.

In his 15-year professional career, Isner has sent down more than 13,000 aces. He is currently 40 shy of Ivo Karlovic's record-breaking mark of 13,728 on the ATP Tour.

There is the best place to play than Centre Court but the 37-year-old American has lost every single one of the eight times he has played twice Wimbledon champion Murray. Serverslist They've never played on grass, however.

"Andy is a totally different animal. He's a lot more difficult to ace because of his anticipation is just incredible," said Isner who scored 54 aces during his five set first-round win.

"He's so much more comfortable on the grass than me. He has more wins in this tournament that I do.

"Grass may be his best surface, it's probably not my best surface. However, it does a lot of good on my serve."

Murray is not performing at his best since hip surgeries. The 35-year-old Murray who last defeated Isner 2016 in 2016, is worried about losing his rhythm in the face of Isner, who has one of the fastest serves in the history of tennis.

"You aren't always in control of (the matches). You can go four or five service return games in which you don't get any chances," Murray said.

"But for some reason, I've always played well against them (big servers). The match-ups have been good for me."

Centre Court will welcome back day one winners and will feature Briton Emma Raducanu facing Caroline Garcia of France . Novak Djokovic facing Thanasi Kokkinakis from Australia.

"Caroline is a formidable opponent. I played her earlier in the year in Indian Wells and it was an intense match. Raducanu said, "She plays very fast tennis, so I'm prepared to play her."

Kokkinakis, ranked 79th in the world, admitted he was clearly not the favourite against Djokovic.

He said, "It's going be good fun out there, and I'm looking forward to swing free hopefully and playing my game,"

"He's a brick wall , so you must beat him and he's not going to go down for himself.
