Avanos Medical and the FDA have issued a Class 1 recall for approximately 629 units of CORTRAK*2 Entral Access System, a feeding tube placement device that is associated with dozens of fatalities and injuries.
The devices were released between April 1, 2016 until January 1, 2022. Avanos Medical feeding tube These devices can be utilized by healthcare professionals to place feeding tubes inside the stomach or the intestines.
Avanos Medical Avanos Medical feeding tube Incorrect placement of the nasogastric or Nasoenteric tube was the cause of 53 deaths and 60 injuries since 2015.
Cortrak 2 eternal access system The recall is used to update the device's label to instruct users to make sure that the tube was correctly placed before feeding.
