Avanos Medical and the FDA have issued a Class 1 recall for about 629 units of CORTRAK*2 Enteral Access System, a feeding tube device that has been associated with dozens of accidents and deaths.
The devices were made available between April 1st of 2016 between January 1st, 2022 and April 1, 2016. https://avanos.com/investor-news/response-to-inquiries-about-the-avanos-cortrak-2-voluntary-field-correction/ The devices are used by healthcare professionals to insert feeding tubes into the stomach or intestines.
Avanos Medical Incorrect placement of the nasogastric or Nasoenteric tubes has been the source of more than 60 injuries and 23 deaths in the last year.

Avanos Medical feeding tube According to FDA adverse events, they include respiratory failure as well as pneumothorax (collapsed lung tissue) and perforation, a hole in the bowel or wall of the lungor bowel of the lung (a lung infection), and the pleural effusion (excess liquid that has accumulated in the space between your lungs and the chest cavity).
