Albus merupakan penyihir berdarah half-blood, dia diketahui sebagai penyihir terkuat di masanya, dia dikenal setelah menemukan 12 kegunaan darah naga. Dumbledore mendirikan orde phoenix untuk melawan lord voldemort dan bawahannya, kekuatan dumbledore dan tongkat eldernya adalah satu satunya hal yang ditakuti oleh lord voldemort, hidupnya ia dedikasikan untuk Hogwarts, bahkan ia merupakan satu satunya kepala sekolah yang mati di sekolahnya sendiri. Berkat kerja kerasnya Hogwarts menjadi sekolah sihir yang ter-baik pada masa jayanya. Ia merupakan rekan kerja dari Nicholas Flamel sang pembuat batu bertuah dan Albus dipercaya untuk menjaga batu itu agar tetap aman dann tidak disalah gunakan. DIa juga menjadi pemimpin dari organisasi Warlock of the Wizengamot and Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards, jabatannya sempatt dicabut karena ada konflik antara dirinya dengan Ministry of Magic namun ia kembali menjabat setelah pengakuan dari pihak MoM yang membersihkan namanya. Ia mengukir prestasi sebagai pemegang gelar Order of Merlin tingkat first class ( Order of Merlin is a best-woned awarsd for any witches or wizard who had achieved great things )
