on I think that this excerpt leaves open is that if there is anything that we as technology users can do to prevent this breach of privacy. We all know that we are being tracked through our location, faces, fingerprints, and more, but is there anything that can happen to stop this? Not only does technology look at what we've done in the past, but it tries to predict what we are going to do in the future as well. An example of this is that ads for certain products can appear as suggested items on your devices after you've spoken about it in real life or searched it up on a web browser. Of course, the excerpt has stated that these unethical concerns were not purposely established by the developers that created them, but is there a way they can fix the issue?

One thing that the text mentioned was that some models used in college admission decisions have previously "falsely reject qualified black applicants more often than qualified white applicants" (p. 10). I have read an article before that talked about a similar occurrence, so it may not be an unusual thing to happen. This excerpt says that it occurred because the designer did not anticipate it, but how? How did the model look at this race variable and declare one as having more worth than another? Was it because of the current demographics of the college? Also, if this small attribute was taken into consideration, then what else does the model look for? If this wasn't the first time that people discovered that the models are putting in race as a factor, then why don't colleges take away the "What is your race" question from applications?
