Screentendo Transforms your Computer Screen into a Playable Mario Level

Screentendo is a good option for you if you're bored at work and want to put off work.

This app lets you transform any website into a playable experience for the iconic 1980s Nintendo classic Mario Bros.

And the creator of the app has released step-by-step instructions to help transform the pages to blocks - however, it requires a certain amount of knowledge in coding to use.

Super Mario code has been created by a London developer. Screentendo is an application that allows you to transform a website into blocks.' Mario can be controlled by moving around the stage, just like in the game. It requires some programming to make this feature work. Screentendo created the MailOnline logo.

Screentendo was built by London-based developer Aaron Randall.

By dragging a window over a web page, various components can be turned into blocks from the Super Mario games.

Avengers fans, assemble! Limited edition Iron Man Galaxy S6... The silent missile that could destroy electronics of enemies... Beware the text message that could crash your phone: a malicious... Get up and smell the coffee: Alarm clock wafts aromas of...

Mario appears and allows players to move on the level and also destroy the blocks.

ANGRY BIRDS TO BATTLE MARIO IN AN ACT OF BATTLE TO ENTER HALL of FAME

15 video games that have kept gamers for hours have been named finalists for the new World Video Game Hall of Fame.

The list includes arcade pioneers Pong and Space Invaders, smartphone favourites Angry Birds and Minecraft and an array of others for consoles and computers.

They include: Doom, FIFA soccer, the Legend of Zelda, the Oregon Trail, Pac-Man, Pokemon, the Sims, Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario Bros, Tetris and World of Warcraft.

To make use of it, you'll need to be able to edit source code with the program CocoaPods.

He explained that Screentendo launches with an opaque semi-transparent window that can be moved and resized to be able to fit over other applications.

After placing the Screentendo window over an area of the screen, pressing inside the window will cause the application to render a game level based on the content beneath it.'

Mr Randall said to MailOnline that he developed the app in just a few days'.

The most difficult part of this application was image processing - making the application look at any image and understand the underlying structure of that image in a way that could be used to generate a game level,' he said.

He said it can work on any website, but it works best on pages with 'high contrast'.

Screentendo is inspired by the original Super Mario Bros game, screen shots of which are shown. Screentendo is currently only available for Macs. The code is available for download from GitHub. Mr Randall states that the app is very much a 'proof-of-concept' hack currently, and has a few shortcomings

Mr Randall said he built it because he loves building things, especially smaller projects like this.'

He added: "It's an excellent excuse to study new languages and frameworks and to try to solve some interesting problems you wouldn't normally tackle.

"The idea was born out of a conversation with a friend from work. PROXIMAL He is often watching graphs that monitor our servers. I suggested that I'd build an application that overlays these graphs to make them more interesting.

MailOnline was told by Mr Randall that he developed the tool in 'just a few days. The most difficult part of this program was the image processing - making the application look at any image, and comprehend the structure of the image in a way that could be used to generate a game level,' he added.

"A few weeks later, we had a hackday at my office (where everyone does whatever they want to) and I came up with a concept that eventually became Screentendo.

He explains on his website that the app at moment is a 'proof-of-concept' hack that has some shortcomings.

He said that the phyiscs were a little off. He wanted to create something that would work well enough'.
