The3RD's unique style of techno music
The3RD's style of techno music is a mix of deep and dark, groove-driven techno and electronic music. The beats are repetitive and danceable. The vocals are textured and synths add layers of sound. Karl Bartos' lead vocals
Karl Bartos' lead vocals on the album The Cafe Techno are reminiscent of the acclaimed German techno band Kraftwerk. The band formed in the early eighties and released two albums before Karl Bartos left in August 1990. The album The Mix featured re-recorded versions of their older material.
Bartos was just 22 years old when he joined Kraftwerk and had already worked with influential producer Conny Plank. The group was introduced to one another before the Autobahn tour in 1974. The three men had met when Ralf picked up Karl from the Conservatory in his grey Volkswagen. Florian was six years older than Bartos, and he had no idea what classical music was; he had grown up in the pop era. Ralf and Florian were intrigued by Bartos' classical training.
Although Karl Bartos was a member of Kraftwerk for several years, his debut solo album is a far cry from the group's more well-known work. thecafetechno.com is more like a blend of Britpop and Beatle-esque music.
