That makes the task for an AI that much easier. The Facebook team believes that even if their AI system fails at certain tasks, it will be useful. They believe they can make progress towards a system that is useful , but without having to be capable "to be successful at every task."
It is still difficult. One of the challenges is the ability to comprehend everyday language. The Facebook team imagines this scenario:

This fairly simple request requires a remarkable degree of knowledge. The assistant must understand the concept of"towers," know the concept of a "tower" and how to construct one, know that "15 blocks high" is a measurement of the height of the tower and be aware of what "15" is. The assistant must also know the concept of smiley and know how to build it and what it means to put it on top.
But the opportunities for an AI to learn are enormous. If Facebook can get enough human help the AI could seek out human assistance in learning.

And Facebook is setting itself the task of designing the AI to improve itself. One of the most frequent critiques of AI systems is their inability to master new tasks that go beyond what they have been trained for and for which data has been collected and processed. But the researchers think the Minecraft environment is the perfect one to develop this kind of learning.
This is an interesting piece that sketches out an objective for Facebook. It is still early days. The work is described by the team as an "call for arms."
