WoW has been changing in China lately. The9 failed to get approval from the Chinese government to allow Wrath of the Lich King to be released. This may have resulted in Blizzard licensing the operation of WoW to Netease in China.
In the midst all this it was the players who were caught in the middle. They were unable to play their games in air and were stuck waiting with bated breath for the Northrend. There are still players who have taken matters to their own. Stars of China decided to move to Taiwanese servers where Wrath was released. They've settled into the Crystalpine Stinger server very nicely as they've defeated Mimiron in 25-man Hard Mode, making them only the second guild to have achieved this feat.
It's an amazing feat by itself obviously, especially as they beat out almost all of the usual suspects in the world to be the first to achieve this feat however, can we learn anything about the future of WoW in China from this? AZOV Sure, not every Chinese player will have the energy and patience to switch over to a Taiwanese server and re-level their characters from scratch, but it appears like there's at least some players who are doing this. It's possible that there will be a chance that one or two players will play World of Fight just to have something new to do without Wrath.
Whether or not this Taiwan migration will have a huge impact on WoW in China is yet to be determined, but for now what is sure is that the Stars guild is definitely stellar. They deserve congratulations!
