A Minecraft map can be whatever you want it be. One of the most appealing aspects of sandbox gaming is the freedom it provides to design amazing Minecraft models, or to spend a lot of time mining every block.
We frequently witness incredible things due to the combination of the Minecraft playground and the creativeness of its players. Some projects just take longer than others though, and for today's feat we're looking at a Minecraft city that took 2,400 hours to construct over the course of 2.5 years. That's an incredible commitment and is considered been considered to be among the top Minecraft cities we've seen.
It's not the first time that a Minecraft map has been published on Reddit. The last time was posted in July 2021. "Since my last posting the city has almost doubled in size, approximately 11 sq km if you include all roads and 40-50 sq km if we take into account the land cleared." Below is an animation that shows some of the city. You can watch it on Redditor.
It's almost like feeling Minecraft struggling to launch every detail and buildings as the player flies around. Roads are also marked with markings. There's even an area that looks like an electric grid. The city is home to over 2,000 buildings. It would make a fantastic map for a hide-and-seek game. But it's not available for download.
