Minecraft Gets Twitch-y Thanks to new Partnership For Integrated Streaming

Twitch and Mojang have partnered to deliver an integrated streaming experience in the indie phenomenon Minecraft The two companies announced this partnership at MineCon today. According to a press release, gamers who play Minecraft on PC and Mac will soon be capable of streaming their games to their Twitch.tv channels.



Matthew DiPietro, vice president of marketing at Twitch, said in the same press release that Minecraft has "struck a very powerful chord" with Twitch users. "Its constant growth in popularity proves that people enjoy watching video games , not just the most popular eSports games. Expect a momentous moment for both spectators and players once the ability to easily broadcast gameplay directly to Twitch is live."



This announcement is only available to Mac and PC users. However, it's important to note that the Xbox One will get its own Minecraft version, and Twitch will be integrated into Microsoft's next generation system. Twitch streaming from console versions is possible. That is, unless a creeper comes to the scene and blows everything up. Sssssssss.

Twitch Announces a Minecraft Partnership at MINECON 2013.



PC and MAC users of Mojang's Minecraft will soon be able to broadcast their games on Twitch with a click of a button



SAN FRANCISCO 2 November 2013 Twitch, the world’s most popular video platform and a community for gamers, announced today at the sold-out MineCon convention an agreement of partnership with Mojang to offer broadcasting features for Minecraft. The integration of Twitch into the PC and MAC versions of the most popular game lets players broadcast directly to their Twitch channels. The Twitch feature will be available soon.



Created and published by Mojang Minecraft was launched on May 17 2009. It is the most played PC Sandbox adventure game selling more than 13,000,000 units on PC and more than 33,000,000 units across all platforms. It's also been the recipient of several notable awards, including five Game Developers Choice Awards at the 2011 Game Developers Conference. MINECON 2013, Mojang's annual Minecraft convention was a huge hit. More than 7,500 attendees were there eager to see the next step in one of the most original games ever, and to meet the team behind it.



Twitch has seen the game's popularity soar with Twitch's Top 20 Games page showing it every month. This has been the case since Twitch was launched in the year 2011.

Twitch was launched in June of 2011, and has been the primary live video platform for the gaming industry in general.
