The Blog Post was Published on Wednesday.

Mojang Studios has put its foot down on blockchain technology and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), according to a blog post published on Wednesday. Mojang is well known for producing the best-selling game ever Minecraft which is a three-dimensional (3D) Sandbox game that has no goals.

To date Mojang has sold 238 million copies of Minecraft and no other video game has sold more copies. Minecraft's sales are followed by top sellers like Grand Theft Auto V (165M copies), Tetris (100M copies) and Wii Sports (82.9M copies).

The blog post released on Wednesday announced that Minecraft will not be using blockchain technology or NFTs. The Minecraft creators believe that "all players should have access to the same functions" and "everyone has access to the same content."

Utilizing NFTs is against the company's values, since NFTs could "create models of scarcity and exclusion that conflict with [the company's] guidelines and the spirit of Minecraft." The company cites a number of reasons, including the fact that there are too many blockchains offering NFTs, "some third-party NFTs are not reliable," and NFTs have been "sold at artificially or [for] fraudulently inflated prices."

"As as a result to ensure that Minecraft players enjoy an enjoyable and safe experience, blockchain technology is not permitted to be integrated into our Minecraft server and client applications, nor are they used to create NFTs with any game content, including worlds, skins, persona items, or other mods," Mojang's blog post details. The video game developer from Stockholm added:

We will also be closely watching how blockchain technology develops in the future to ensure that the principles above are not violated, and to determine if it allows for more secure gaming or other practical and inclusive applications. However, we have no plans of implementing blockchain technology into Minecraft at the moment.

Mojang won't be following heavy Weight Game Software Companies Like Square Enix, Konami, Ubisoft - Minecraft Creator Believes "Speculative Pricing and Investment Mentality is a way to take the fun away From Playing the Game

Mojang's decision comes at a moment when companies like Ubisoft, Square Enix, and Konami have all announced NFT implementations of some kind or other. At the end of 2021, Ubisoft and GSC Game World were hit with criticism over NFT inclusion.

GSC Game World was so critical of the companies that it decided to stop production of NFT elements for Stalker 2. However, an executive at Ubisoft, Nicolas Pouard, said to the media that he believes gamers don't like NFTs because they don't comprehend the advantages of the technology.

Konami detailed in February that it was planning to continue issuing NFTs to preserve the company's content. Square Enix also participated in an investment round of 35 million dollars for Zebedee, a fintech company and bitcoin payment processor. Zebedee is a Hoboken New Jersey-based company Zebedee is a specialist in the integration of bitcoin payments into games.

Mojang does not want to have anything to do with blockchains or NFTs, as it is an all-inclusive game. Mojang stated Wednesday that NFTs and speculative pricing can distract from the game and promote profiteering. This is in opposition to the long-term joy of our players.
