Old School Runescape's first new Mode in Years is a Hardcore Co-op Odyssey

Introduced in 2014 Ironman mode introduced in 2014, Ironman mode let Old School Runescape players try their luck in an completely self-sufficient challenge. The throwback MMO lets you share that load with a full party, allowing you and your friends take on the world together without any assistance from anyone else.

The announcement was made today. Runescape Private Servers Group Ironman (opens in new tab) is the first major game mode to be released in Old School Runescape within a half-decade. A twist on the existing Ironman/Ironwoman modes, Group keeps many of the same restrictions (no trading or trading, no rewards from kills of other players or XP earned by other players, and no grand exchange) designed to make your character completely self-sufficient, but extends the restrictions to a group of players, rather than only one.

Within the group, you're able to use equipment and other items to share freely and with shared storage. Outside of those social walls, you have to adhere to the Ironman rules and can't ask for assistance from other players. It sounds like a more social, less intimidating approach to tackling one of the game's toughest challenges and is something that Old School Runescape players have been asking for.

In the press release, Jagex stated that Group Ironman was among the most popular new additions in OSRS history. Being a deliberately nostalgic client, updates in OSRS are voted on by the community and are only released when they reach the threshold of 75% approval. Jagex estimates that around 140,000 users voted for Group Ironman, with an 80percent approval rate, making it a breeze to join.

Group Ironman can be enabled mid-way through tutorial island, with you and your adventurers mates meeting at the Iron Tutor on The Node.
