Although the University of Pennsylvania's school year is over, a few students aren't ready for leaving.
A group of UPenn students set up the Minecraft server and coordinated the development of the campus over two weeks of March. They've had contact with Brown University and Columbia University students working on similar projects and have discussed the possibility of creating Hunger Games-like challenges among schools.
Microsoft bought the block-building game "Minecraft" in 2014 for $2.5billion. It has been one the most loved games worldwide for the past decade. In September, it had a staggering 112 million active users every month, a number that has reportedly grown to 145 million.
Colleges and universities across the US have sent students home and switched to remote learning for the rest of the semester. Some schools made the switch after the student was diagnosed with COVID-19, which is a coronavirus infection. Some did it before the student arrived. Colleges also weighed in on the dangers of returning students from spring break having been on the road all over the world.
