The arms, legs, face and torso are washed and dried properly. The existing paint is sanded off or wiped away with acetone. Any residue is carefully removed. The eyes are substituted with realistic looking glass or acrylic ones. Then fine blue veins are painted about the head and also the back with the hands.

Now comes the important step of painting the doll. Using the right skin hue is the thing that will strengthen the hyper-realistic look. The newborn skin effect is created by painting multiple coats (maybe 80 or maybe more) of flesh colored paint. A blush effect is painted on at the right places. Some reborners even paint the doll from the inside to find the right hue.

The eyelids, eyebrows, lips, nails and skin folds must be carefully enhanced. The doll parts are carefully baked within an oven to seal the paint after every layer.
