WoW and FFXIV Get the Boosted Playtime on Raptr; ArcheAge Playtime 'cracked'

Another month and another Raptr report. Raptr.com released its November top-rated PC games list yesterday. MMOs did well. It's no surprise that World of Warcraft was able to climb up the list to #2 thanks to the Warlords of Draenor expansion. The press release from Raptr states that "The MMO's monthly playtime increased 71% compared to October." While WoW "likely” drew from League of Legends numbers, it was not able to be able to take over the MOBA's number one spot.

Other MMOs, ArcheAge playtime "cratered by 39.97%," but World of Tanks and Final Fantasy XIV both saw rises in theirs. Raptr states that Guild Wars 2 rose in rank but lost playing time in November over October. SWTOR has fallen two places since October.

Raptr roundups are subject to the condition that they only represent Raptr users who play on PC. Certain MMO studios also increase Raptr numbers by offering in-game incentives. The games might not release information on their players, so you might consider this to be the next best indicator of popularity , other than a tour of the servers.

[Source: Raptr press release which we're including here] Most Played PC Games November 2014 --- Dragon Age, Call of Duty debut, World of Warcraft revived

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Dragon Age: Inquisition made their debuts on the Most Played List this month. World of Warcraft's latest expansion gave the MMO an upswing after a ten-year hiatus. Spider Solitaire also made an unexpected return to the top 20 after an extended absence. The guilty parties know who they are.

Highlights

League of Legends remained in first place in November, despite losing 15.88 percent of the time played compared to October. The game's peak was at the middle of the month after the Halloween sales event. Although gameplay was stable for the majority of the month, there were a few slowdowns due to the 4.20 update.

World of Warcraft's Warlords of Draenor likely took time from LoL as well as other major games. The average monthly time spent playing the MMO was up 71.3 percent over the month of October. As was expected the expansion and the 10 years of anniversary events for the game significantly impacted daily play time and nearly doubled after the launch of the Draenor expansion, and remained steady through the end of November.

The other top five games weren't as lucky. DOTA 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Smite saw a net decrease in hours. Smite beat ArcheAge for fifth. Though DOTA 2 and CS:GO experienced double digits drops (12.49 percent and 11.59 percent, respectively), Smite was down less than one percent.

Archeage however, was shattered by 39.97 percent; thus Smite's small climb up the ranks.

The downward trend continued with Minecraft (-11.70%), Diablo III (down nearly 45% -- we blame WoW), and Hearthstone (-13.11%), although we expect a rebound to come in December thanks to Goblins against Gnomes).

Chart newcomer Dragon Age: Inquisition made an impressive debut in November's Most Popular Games, landing in tenth place despite its release in late November.

World of Tanks saw a reduction in playing time, but it managed to gain 7.72% more play time than October. Though the WGLNA Gold League Qualifying rounds took place throughout the month, the game was at its peak during the Thanksgiving weekend, due to XP multipliers and holiday discounts on premium items.

Final Fantasy XIV increased in play time by 20.97%. This could be due to the release of the Game of the Year edition, which offered 60 additional days of adventure (plus all previously released content) in the late months of October and early November. The game's playtime wasn't affected by mid-month DDOS attacks that caused login problems.

Warframe and Guild Wars 2 each rose in popularity despite a decrease in play time in November compared to October. Warframe hosted a Movember community event that resulted in the setting of a Guinness World Record. Guild Wars 2's Tangled Path content has been released with new areas, items including skins, a variety of items, as as other features.

Call of Duty: Advance Warfare is always an Xbox juggernaut - was released in November and based upon the current trends, we might not be able to see it in December’s Most Played.

For the first time since October 2013, Spider Solitaire made its way back into Most Played. It turns out that Thanksgiving isn't just about football, turkey and arguing with family members It's also about playing Solitaire, as gameplay hours for the month peaked on the 27th of November.

Note that the Share number for each game represents the game's gameplay time as a percentage of the total time spent on all PC games played by Raptr members, and is useful for comparing the relative amount of play time between certain games.
