20 Things That Only The Most Devoted Vinyl Fences Fans Understand
How to Install a PVC Fence

If you have decided to construct a fence you must be aware that there are some crucial things to keep in mind. First, determine the location where you would like the fence to be put up. Next, you need to prepare the ground. Then, you'll have to install the posts. You may also have to adjust the height based on the dimensions and shape of your property.

Preparing the ground

Preparing the ground for the fence is an important step in the process. This is because the fence posts should be securely buried. If they're not then the fence could collapse in the wind.

Before digging, consult with your local utility company to make sure that there aren't any underground utilities that could hinder the construction. You can call 811 to get your yard marked for underground lines.

A gravel base should be prepared for the fence posts. This will help water drain away from the posts. It also provides a solid base for the blocks that will be built on top of it.

Once you have the base, it is time to put in the vinyl fence. The material should be at a minimum of four feet long and one-inch thick. You can employ an auger to create the holes for fence posts when you have it.

Before digging, you must remove any plants or trees that may hinder your digging. In some situations it is much easier to remove the ground than it is to dig it. Avoid digging in rocky or sandy soil, if you are forced to.

Then, you should mark the highest and lowest points in your yard. This can be accomplished by using a string level. Attach the string level to stakes approximately one foot above the ground. The string level serves as a guideline for the fence posts.

You'll need to make pilot holes if your land is very dry. This will make the process easier.

You will also need to mark the holes. Spray paint or a marker to mark your holes. To ensure straight posts, you can also use a mason's line.

You can also fill the gap with decorative stones. These stones are ideal for small gaps. You'll need to find a different way to fill a larger gap. It is also possible to put dirt into the gap. This is a cost-effective and effective solution.

Installing the posts

Installing the posts can be a difficult process. First, find the proper place. This can be accomplished with an apex level, a line mark made to accommodate the width of the post or a measuring wheel.

Next, set the end and corner posts in their place. You must also set the middle and top rails. Some cutting may be necessary. You could also use rails as an alternative to space between the posts.

Once you have located the middle of each hole with a tape measure or stakes, mark the middle of the posts using a tape measure. You can also draw string lines to determine the appropriate depth. After the string line has been drawn, you can tie the ends of the post to the string. This will ensure the fence will be straight.

After the posts have been set in place and firmly seated, fill their bottoms with six inches gravel. This will hold the posts in place and will provide drainage.

When you set the fence posts in concrete, be sure to use a rapid setting concrete. This is a type of concrete that is set within three to four minutes. It is important not to make the panels tighter when installing privacy fencing. The panels should be positioned 22 inches above ground. The panel should be secured using #10 x 1" self-tapping stainless steel screws.

You can connect the posts to your fence using two screws. If you are installing an privacy fence you must leave one screw on the top rail. installing vinyl fence can also cover the bottom horizontal rails with duct tape prior to attaching them to the posts. This will stop concrete from leaking into the bottom horizontal rail.

After you are satisfied with the placement, take off the duct tape. Then, slide the top rail into each of the posts. Then, attach the pickets to the rails.

You can also set the rails on the bottom at the corners. You can use aluminum U-channel for fixing the rails onto the post.

Assembling the panels

It is essential to align the fence posts properly for the installation of a vinyl fence. Based on the design of your fence, you may need to use different techniques. When you're installing an square or oval fence the following steps will help you get started.

Before you begin, ensure that you check your deed and local Zoning laws. Also, notify neighbors of your plan. If you're installing fence made of vinyl you may have to apply for a building permit.

Once all your posts are in place It is now time to attach your rail brackets. These are screws that are anchored to the inside face of the post. This allows for a more efficient manipulation of the posts when they are put in.

Before you set up your rail brackets, install your bottom rail. Most pre-assembled vinyl panels come with two rails. You might need to modify the rails to match your terrain.

When your bottom rail is installed, you can install the middle rail. The top rail can be put in place similarly. This step can be done with an aluminum u-channel. You can place it in your posts with the help of #8 x 1'' screws.

The pickets then can be installed one at a. Once they're all set then you can begin attaching your C channel brackets. To keep them in place you can set stakes at their corners. You can use cotton string to join the stakes.

You can also use a spray paint marker to mark your line. This will ensure that the fence is straight when it is set.

In the end, you'll need to install privacy panels. They should be placed on the backside your fence. You can also add pea gravel to your holes to keep them in place. You can make your slope gentler by placing your fence panels on one end so that they "step down". If the slope is steep your fence needs to be constructed so that it "steps down".

Problems with height changes

If you're planning to put up a PVC fence you might have difficulty with lining up the posts. There are two ways to accomplish this. One is to lay the posts on the ground, and the alternative is to align them. The first method is simpler and ensures that concrete is laid under and around each post. In the second method, you need to remove the posts, and then backfill with dirt.

When you remove the posts, make sure to fill them with a solid backfill and dig the holes enough to hold three-quarters the length of the post. It is necessary to dig down approximately six inches to sink the posts into the foundation of the gravel. To drill holes, you could make use of a hole drilling tool. The tension bar can be connected to the mesh in the last step. Attach the steel mesh at the top of the fence.

If you're having trouble aligning the posts or removing the rails from posts that are too high. This can be a difficult procedure however you should be able do it with two people helping you. If you have two tools, a hammer or chisel, you can use them to tack the bolts' threads. This will stop them from coming loose when you take off the top of the fence.
