Many of us will have first introduced to Minecraft when Microsoft announced it was paying $2.5bn (PS1.5bn) for the company behind the most-loved video game.
For a number of years, a dedicated community has been working on the Minecraft universe, painstakingly creating intricate cyberspace masterpieces.
Here are seven of the top:
Game of Thrones
Mapmakers WesterosCraft are on a mission to recreate the universe created by George RR Martin in the Game of Thrones books and the TV series. https://dhakacourier.net/ The goal is to provide an opportunity for roleplaying in the fantasy world.
A working 16-bit computer
A Minecraft gamer who goes by the username ohmganesha created a fully functional 16-bit computer in just two weeks. The virtual machine comes with 32 bytes of RAM (random-access memory) and the 256 bytes of ROM (read-only memory).
This Cathedral
Patrix, the edifice's architect said that it took him only two nights to build. He added that he had never been to a cathedral in real life.
A hard drive that works
Cody Littley's hard drive is able to hold a single kilobyte of data, which might appear uninteresting when compared to everyday discs, until you consider that Mr Littley - an undergraduate in computer science in Texas - built it piece-by-piece.
An entire city
The artists behind the Aurora City Project admit it might never be finished and the details of their cityscapes give some clues as to why. Here are some photos.
All of Denmark
To aid children's learning, the Danish government decided to map the entire country using Minecraft. However the project was then vandalised, with portions of the landscape being destroyed by using virtual "dynamite".
