牙菌斑是牙齒的大敵，可能會引起許多牙齒疾病，導致難聞的口臭，甚至有掉牙的危機。 水雷射作為臨床治療的工具之一，陳映瑜醫師說，隨著雷射能量強度不同而有不同的效果，如果能量大一點，則可切割牙肉、調整牙齦位置，可取代傳統刀片。 不過，這都必須委由經驗豐富的牙醫師來執行，否則容易延伸出其他問題，反而傷到牙齒。
