牙周病治療
確實，糖尿病患者的牙周修復與傷口癒合能力比較差。 牙醫在門診很常遇到患者覺得牙齒會酸痛而來檢查。 如果我們排除明顯蛀牙的因素，很常見到的是『敏感性牙齒』或『牙本質敏感』。

由於純鈦在植體中的使用時間比氧化鋯長得多，因此進行了更多的研究以證明其安全性、有效性和長壽命。 瑞典研究機構發表在 2019 年三月份美國牙周醫學會期刊，研究『拔除智齒對相鄰第二大臼齒牙周健康的影響』（參考資料-7）。 結論指出：拔除第三大臼齒(智齒)改善第二大臼齒的遠心端（後方）的牙周健康，也使牙周比較容易清潔。 糖尿病患者體內的糖化終產物 (AGE：advanced glycation end-product) 所產生的發炎反應和很多血管病變有關，也使得糖尿病有全身性的併發症。 除了神經病變、視網膜病變、腎臟病以外，牙周病也被公認為屬於糖尿病的併發症之一。
但是一旦進展成較嚴重的牙周病，只是刷牙是不會好的，必須接受牙周病的治療。 牙周病，又稱牙齦疾病，是當在牙斑細菌（即在口中形成粘性的，無色膜）牙齦和牙齒之間積聚造成的。
