How to Create a Furnace in Minecraft

Before you can make a furnace, you'll need to build a Crafting Table and collect the necessary items.



Create an Crafting Table. Put 4 Wood Planks of the same kind of wood in each of the boxes of the 2X2 crafting grid. Any kind of wood can be used ( Oak Planks and Jungle Planks), ).

Set your crafting table on the ground. You can open it to access the 3X3 crafting grid. The method to do this is dependent on the version you're playing:






Craft your Furnace. Place 8 Cobblestones and Blackstones in each of the outer boxes.






Set the Furnace on the ground and open it to access the menu for smelting.

Once you have a Crafting Table, you can make a Furnace by following these steps:



8 Cobblestones or 8 Blackstones (You can't mix and match unless you're on Java edition)



You will need to have an energy source like wood, coal or charcoal, to melt things in your furnace.





What are the possibilities with an Furnace?

You can make new items with the help of Furnaces in Minecraft by melting the materials in your inventory. Many items can only made through melting. For example the process of smelting Iron Ore yields Iron Ingots that are used to construct an armor.





How to Smelt in Minecraft

No matter what metal you're smelting in Minecraft the Furnace process is the same.



The item you want to smelt in the top box on the left of the Furnace menu.






Put a fuel source (e.g. Place a fuel source (e.g. coal, coal or wood) in the box on the bottom of the Furnace menu.






Wait for the progress bar fill up.






Once the process has been completed, drag the new item to your inventory.
